Club Member – Major Rick Beven kindly lent the Club a beautiful original Seahorse brooch for display which was purchased by his father, a tea planter in Assam, in the early 1960’s from Hamilton & Co in Calcutta. He gave it to his late mother when they married in 1961. The brooch was one of eighteen that the Calcutta Light Horse raiding party had commissioned to present to their wives and girlfriends after their clandestine raid to sink the German spy ship Ehrenfels in Marmagoa Harbour, Portuguese Goa, on 9th March 1943.
